Successful Completion of the Short Course “Fundamentals of International Investment Law and Arbitration”

The Institute for International Law and International Relations at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, successfully organised its innaugural short course entitled Fundamentals of International Investment Law and Arbitration, which took place between 7 and 8 July 2026, under the leadership of the Institute's director Maruša T. Veber.


The programme covered a broad range of topics in international investment law and arbitration, such as jurisdiction and admissibility, standards of investor protection, types of investment arbitration, applicable law, as well as the enforcement and annulment of arbitral awards.


The following speakers participated in the event:

  • Domen Turšič, LL.M., Senior Associate at Jadek & Pensa Law Office,

  • Patricio Barbirotto, Visiting Researcher at the Institute for International Law and International Relations at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, and Partner at IntLaw LLP,

  • doc. dr. Maruša T. Veber, Director of the Institute for International Law and International Relations at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, and Assistant Professor for international law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana,

  • asist. Gal Veber, LL.M., Teaching and Research Assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana.


The successfully conducted short course represents an important step towards strengthening expertise and dialogue in the field of international investment law and arbitration in Slovenia.
